Ep 86: 10 Thoughts on Therapy
/This episode is for anyone curious about therapy.
October is Mental Health Awareness Month, and so I wanted to put together a few thoughts on the number one thing that has helped me navigate my anxiety: talk therapy.
I’ve struggled with anxiety since childhood, but I didn’t try going to therapy until I was 35 years old, and drowning under the weight of new motherhood and postpartum. In this episode, I am sharing 10 thoughts on therapy, including how to find a therapist, how to pay for therapy, and some of the most important things I’ve learned in 6 years of regular therapy after decades of coping with my mental health alone.
Please note: I am not an expert of any kind. Please talk to a doctor or medical professional if you are experiencing mental health struggles. This episode is only meant to share my own experience.
Also note: I am talking about general talk therapy. There are many specialized treatments and therapists available for a wide range of issues dealing in trauma, relationships, etc. Always research the help you’re seeking.
